Phil Elverum’s new album is about the death of his wife, artist Geneviéve Castrée, who passed away last July, a year after the birth of their daughter. It’s so painful to listen to, the grief so profound, that the first time I listened to it, I had to turn it off in the middle of the first song. This is going to be a difficult, powerful show from a very brave artist. Bring tissues.
