Open Lab Review

April 5, 2017 — 6 - 8pm

Join the Buzzfeed Open Lab fellows for a night of creative technology, storytelling and wearable sousveillance hosted by the Hybrid Lab and Digital Craft Lab at California College of the Arts. This year’s Open Lab fellows have been working since October and we’re thrilled to show you what we’ve built so far.
Cathy Deng is engineering playful, serendipitous encounters to break people out of their usual echo chambers.
Jamica El is prototyping wearable surveillance gear by embedding cameras into clothing and accessories for news gathering.
Caroline Sinders is an artist and researcher who is building a deep body of research and artifacts on the alt-right and hate speech in digital, conversational spaces. Caroline is the Open Lab Eyebeam fellow.
Lam Thuy Vo is a reporter, developer and visual storyteller, exploring ethical ways to mine and utilize social media data for storytelling.
Logan Williams is building technology that encourages people to transform personal photographs into reflective stories.
