Martha

Having disappeared into the studio to record their hugely-anticipated third album, Martha are popping their cheeky little heads back above the parapet for two very intimate shows at London’s Moth Club

Named for the last living passenger pigeon and driven the nagging threat of extinction, Martha is the second best punk band out of Pity Me. A self-confessed bunch of scruffs who hail their hometown as a essential to their aesthetic. Martha serves up a mass of bubblegum hysteria with an unashamedly Northern edge.

On their most recent LP, “Blisters In The Pit Of My Heart” (Dirtnap Records, Fortuna POP!) the band channel all the worries and uncertainties that come with an undying need to stay creative, political and punk way into eleven cuts of hook-heavy and totally addictive pop songs.

There’s darkness beneath the pop surface; Martha exist in uncertainty, fear and loneliness whilst exuding an effervescent sense of excitement and joy. “
