Millions of musicians and non-musicians around the globe are tuning up their instruments to perform The Peace Anthem (Set Me Free) on June 21st, 2017 at 8:30PM EDT. The Global Jam 4 Peace (GJ4P) is sparking a worldwide music movement. Empowered by a mantra of peace and love, this movement aims to unite people, cultures and communities throughout the world.

In partnership with the global Make Music Day celebration and Make Music DC, the GJ4P will host a live musical event at the historic Sylvan Theatre stage on the National Mall in Washington DC. This event is free and open to the public. Festivities will begin at 5:00PM EDT and will feature harmonica, ukulele, pBuzz horn and guitar participation events. Live music by DC’s own Skyline Hotel, Gregg Hammond, Ted Garber and other local musicians will also entertain and inspire the crowd leading up to the global jam at 8:30PM EDT.

Anyone can participate and connect with the GJ4P virtually from anywhere in the world. Post your live and recorded performances of the Peace Anthem across your favorite video and social media channels using the hashtags #globaljam4peace and #thepeaceanthemsetmefree.

Music is the oldest language and it is universal. Studies have revealed humans communicated with pitches and songs prior to developing verbal language. The oldest artifact, a flute made from vulture-bone, predates cave drawings. The pitches produced are similar to the human voice. “Music soothes the savage beast and it’s good for humans, too” says Gregg Hammond, founder and organizer for the GJ4P. “Music is the language of our souls and is the powerful catalyst we need to bring us into our desperately needed time of peace and love”.
