In the history of film music, Elmer Bernstein is among the iconic and the legendary. To mark what would have been his 95th birthday, the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra present the European premiere of a very special concert celebrating Elmer’s life through stories and music, narrated and conducted by his son, Peter Bernstein.

Elmer Bernstein’s career spanned an unparalleled five decades, during which he composed more than 150 original movie scores, nearly 80 for television, and numerous other side-projects and diversions.

He created some of the most recognisable and memorable themes in Hollywood history, including The Man With the Golden Arm, The Magnificent Seven and The Great Escape, and picked up numerous awards including an Academy Award for Thoroughly Modern Millie in 1968.

This performance will feature special guest appearances, including Hollywood legend John Landis, who directed several Bernstein-scored films.

This concert will celebrate Elmer Bernstein’s most well-known and critically acclaimed works, including world premiere live performances of some of his best-loved compositions.
