Last year we announced the Columbus Web Group Mentor Program and rolled out the first wave of mentors and mentees at the beginning of this year.
And we learned a lot.
To keep the momentum going, and to ensure this program aligns to the needs of this community, we’re having the 1st Mentoring Quarterly to brainstorm, discuss improvements, and introduce the program to new mentees and mentors.
Come join us on Wednesday, April 5th at Improving from 6-8pm.
Free food and drink provided 🍕 🍻
And here’s what to expect:
- Get Involved: Find out how to sign up as a mentee or mentor if you haven’t done so
- Mentors: Meet collectively with CWG leadership to discuss your mentoring programs, lessons learned and how we can make things better
- Mentees: Meet with professionals and rotate through a number of stations to learn more about the following topics:
- Post Grad Life: You’ve graduated college, but now what? What’s the s%#$ they didn’t tell you in school? How can I be a good mentee?
- Design Driven: How to build a portfolio, find work and start a career in design
- Developer Devoted: Crafting a dev toolbox from ground zero can be difficult, let’s talk about what you need to know.
- I <3 IT, but I’m not a Designer or Dev: There are more roles in the IT community than UX and Dev focused. Talk to someone that can give you advise on breaking into that scene.
