Valley Concert Chorale Spring Concert May 17

The Valley Concert Chorale, the Tri-Valley's premier chorus, will perform their spring concert on Saturday, May 17, at 8:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pleasanton. The church is located at 1225 Hopyard Road.

The performance titled, "Be at Peace with Song," will feature Schubert's graceful yet spirited Mass in G, accompanied by organ and professional soloists. The chorale will also perform Peteris Vasks' beautiful Dona Nobis Pacem.

"The title of this powerful work literally means 'peace on earth'," explains John Emory Bush, the chorale's artistic director. "Its haunting melody of sustained notes and chords builds to a height of tension with the organ, then resolves to a prayer-like solitude leaving the listener with a sense of peace. It's really quite moving."

Also on the program are familiar spirituals with lively new arrangements, and English part songs.
