Founded in 1999 as a B2B trading company, Alibaba survived the Internet dark age, and becomes a leading Internet player in the world. In August 2005, Yahoo! Inc. paid $1 billion in cash for a 40 percent stake in Alibaba, along with its China assets. Alibaba.com (a subsidiary of Alibaba) is planning to go public later this year in either Hong Kong or New York stock exchange, in what could be the biggest IPO ever for a Chinese Internet company.

As the CTO of Alibaba.com, John Wu is one of the top leaders in the company. He will share with us the successes as well as the challenges they have encountered. Come and join us to learn the legendary growth path of Alibaba

Biography of Speaker:
John Wu brings a wealth of technical and management expertise to Alibaba through his many years of work experience in Silicon Valley . After joining Yahoo! Inc. in April 1996, Wu directed the company's search and e-commerce technology engineering team. He is the chief architect of Yahoo!'s directory search engine and its many applications. Mr. Wu also led a team of engineers and technical professionals in the design and implementation of Yahoo!'s e-commerce technologies, which have now been deployed in over a dozen Yahoo!'s e-commerce services.

Prior to joining Yahoo!, Mr. Wu was the development Manager at Oracle's Server Technology Department. Mr. Wu received a BS degree with High Distinction from University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, majoring in Computer Science. He was born in Shanghai and studied at Shanghai Jiaotong University .
