The Tech Academy of Silicon Valley is designed to help students in middle school and high school explore and improve the skills needed to pursue college level work in engineering, technology and science. Program emphases are on innovative problem solving, teamwork, and project-based 'learning-by-doing'. Instruction will be provided by experienced teachers, supported by engineering professionals, college engineering faculty and college engineering students. Tech Academy is held at 5 locations - San Jose State University, Santa Clara University, Morgan Hill, CSU-East Bay and Alsion Montessori School in Fremont. All sessions are three weeks. Each session costs ~only~ $300.

INTRODUCTORY ACADEMY (for 6th, 7th & 8th grade students - as of Fall 2009)
(Overview of Power/Solar, High Tech, Environmental Engineering)
Team collaboration and hands-on projects, like building and racing solar-powered model cars and 'deconstructing' cell phones to identify components.
Introductory Academy has morning (9am-Noon) or afternoon (1pm-4pm) sessions at **all locations** starting June 22 & July 13

ADVANCED ACADEMIES (for grads of Introductory Academy & 9th-12th grade students) All Advanced courses are at San Jose State University.
