Summer Solstice has long been a time of celebration. The first day of summer greets us with sunshine, warmth, and a bountiful forest of flowers, fruits, and abundant wildlife.

Join us June 19th as we welcome in the summer season with fun activities. All programs start at the Visitor Center.

Saturday, June 19th

11:00am- BASSWOOD BRACELETS – Learn how to make a decorative bracelet from the basswood tree and you can take one home with you too. 30-min Visitor Center

2:00pm- ATLATL THROWING DEMONSTRATION – Discover how the pre-historic Adena hunted on the land that is now Mounds State Park. Try your hand at spear throwing. Visitor Center Porch

8:30pm – SUMMER SOLSTICE CELEBRATION – Join us for a ceremony at sunset with a group of Miami Indians. Bring a blanket to sit on and meet at the Visitor Center; then we’ll walk to the Great Mound and enjoy an evening of song, dance, and drumming. Discover the amazing accuracy of the mounds and the meanings behind their alignment, ending with a luminary hike. Visitor Center Porch

These programs are free and open to the public. Admission to the park is $5 for in-state vehicles, $7 for out-of-state vehicles.
