Presentation Overview

In 1989 John Hummer and Ann Winblad formed Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, the first venture capital fund focused exclusively on software companies. Although the software industry was then in its infancy, John and Ann held two convictions that continue to drive the firm's thought process today. First, they believed that software companies enjoy a simple but superior economic model based on the low variable cost of production. Second, they felt that software would have a dramatic effect on how we live, work, and play. This vision has become reality; software has grown into one of the largest industries in the United Stages. Despite this remarkable growth, they believe that software's future has only just begun.

Ann Winblad, Doug Hickey, and Prashant Shah will join us to offer their opinions on where the software industry is heading, give a preview on areas where they will be placing their bets, and provide advice on how to raise venture funding in today's environment. Three lucky pre-selected entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to pitch their business and get feedback on their presentations from Hummer Winblad.
