After chewing the hayseed with her country rock outfit The Saddletramps, turning up the amplitude with Weeping Tile and exploring the singer-songwriter avenue with the acclaimed solo albums You Were Here and All Of Our Names, Kingston, ONs Sarah Harmer finally reveals her bluegrass heart with Im A Mountain. Shes gone completely acoustic, with occasional fiddle and plenty of pickin and pluckin on guitars, mandolins and stand-up bass from regular collaborators as Jason Euringer and Luther Wright among others, opting for a clean, precise sound. But its the tunes here that are the standouts, ranging from the cheerful folk-grass pep of I Am Aglow and the gentle country sway of Oleander to the plaintive beauty of Goin Out and the effervescent flow of Dolly Partons Will He Be Waiting For Me. Also spectacular: Harmers enchanting singing, which frankly has never sounded better. With the her ecological fundraiser Escarpment Blues thrown into the mix, the fun swing of the cool title-track laced with fiddle, and the quaint chanson Salamandre balancing out Im A Mountains highs, itll be word of mouth, campus radio, critical press support and in-store airplay thatll get this ball rolling in a big way. Folks, this is as organic as they come.
