Seattle Center
Seattle, Washington 98105

One hundred years ago, Seattle hosted the 1909 Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition, or “the A-Y-P.” It was Seattle’s first world’s fair.

The 38th annual Northwest Folklife Festival celebrates the centennial of the A-Y-P and includes special performances, exhibits, and demonstrations to celebrate this milestone in Seattle’s history!

From the festival's About page:

Northwest Folklife creates opportunities for individuals and communities of the Pacific Northwest to celebrate, share and sustain the vitality of folk, ethnic and traditional arts for present and future generations. Northwest Folklife carries out its mission in a variety of ways, most notably through the annual production of the free Northwest Folklife Festival.
