the treasure mouth ensemble with beth lisick
citta di vitti

treasure mouth :: hackable karaoke
John Shiurba is leading a large ensemble in the realization of the late Matthew Sperry’s composition "Treasure Mouth." Sperry’s score calls for a Jurassic form of karaoke and includes a sketch of a circa 1972 overhead projector with explanatory notes for musicians and vocalists to improvise as fast as they can to karaoke lyrics written live. In this performance the writer is local author / artist Beth Lisick and the karaoke backdrop will be lit by a magic lantern, the archaic movie projector of choice for phantasmagoria.

citta di vitti
The post-jazz trio of Phillip Greenlief, (reeds), John Hanes (drums) and Lisa Mezzacappa (bass). Collaborating with local musician and documentary filmmaker Tim Perkis (Noisy People) they will unite Citta di Vitti compositions with their original inspiration: a mélange of Monica Vitti scenes drawn from the films of Italian modernist Michelangelo Antonioni that Greenlief watched with the sound off.

Admission to this show includes a feast of pre-Hanukkah latkes washed down with pre-Winter Solstice mead covered up by pre-Christmas peppermint sticks.
