Ghoul meets glamour at the fifth anniversary of the Muse Costume Ball as we walk down the blood red carpet on the arm of Vanity Fair Portraits: Photographs 1913-2008. Join us as we enjoy mysterious potions concocted by Pernod Absinthe while getting down to live music by Grand Ole Party and a DJ set by Le Femme Digitale. Once again, the party kicks off in the L.A. Times Central Courtyard followed by the after party in the LACMA West Penthouse featuring our annual Costume Contest. Dress to impress as paparazzi lurk at every turn!

Featured Performers

GRAND OLE PARTY
9 pm | Los Angeles Times Central Courtyard
How do you explain on a piece of paper the elements that make a band truly exciting and genuinely unique? Sometimes, a good starting point is simple geography. When Grand Ole Party sets the stage for their live show, the placement of their drums and amps is the first cue: three abreast, with the drum kit front and center. The uninitiated will then experience the next surprise when the three-piece takes the stage and the lone female musician moves her diminutive frame behind the kit. The third moment of wonderment comes when lead vocalist Kristin Gundred opens her mouth to sing and a cavalcade of power and passion comes out. But none of these things are gimmicks, and Grand Ole Party isn’t trying to shatter your preconceptions, they just wanna rock out.

LE FEMME DIGITALE
10:30 pm | LACMA West Penthouse
Trained as a pianist, violinist, on the clarinet and the drums along with turntables, Le Femme Digitale is able to bring her music alive while radiating the energy and soul to take her listeners through an unforgettable audio voyage. As a resident DJ at Hollywood hotspots such as Spundae LA, she teamed up with Groove radio’s DJ Holly Adams and DJ Sheila to develop the highly successful “Chicks In The Mix” monthlies—which featured an all female house DJ line-up. The exposure she received led to many different residencies throughout the U.S. and Europe, making her one of the leading female resident DJs.
Costume Contest
Prizes will be awarded to winners in three different categories. They are Best Halloween Costume, Best Art Inspired Costume, and Most Glamorous Costume. So no matter if you're fitting into a mask, growing a handlebar mustache, or slipping into a dress, you still have a chance to win great prizes!
