The Mills Repertory Dance Company presents its fall concert spanning four performances in two venues this season, entitled Transmission, a program that speaks through movement to the transmission of ideas, the translation of information, and dissemination of a heritage from one generation to the next. The program includes four new works plus two restagings.

Award-winning Bay Area choreographer Sonya Delwaide's Evasion examines the struggle between our needs and wants in a fiercely pressurized world. MRDC Director Yukie Fujimoto presents Iden, a depiction of the ways in which lineage and descent unfold to evoke our ancestral past as well as the present. Shinichi Iova-Koga's oatscurriedsalmondeathstar plays at the borderline of dance, performance art, and theater through an experience of food and language as a means of ideas and cultural transmission. Bay-Area choreographer and dancer Katie Faulkner debuts the trio ROOT, which follows characters as they revel in and test the boundaries of socially acceptable behavior, challenging each other to transmit something deeply flawed about themselves.

Electra, a solo originally choreographed by Mel Wong for Silvia Martins in 2001, is an emotional and physical conduit of the electric charges that manifest in nature and the body. MRDC is also honored to have 16-year Merce Cunningham Dance Company veteran Holley Farmer mounting Event With Canfield of Cunningham's works as a collection entitled Event With Canfield For Lisser Theatre. The piece, based on an excerpt of Cunningham's 1969 Canfield, has been especially configured with additional segments of Cunningham's original choreography.
