IC² Institute presents a one-day conference on Mexican American entrepreneurship.

"The purpose of this conference is to gain an understanding of the dynamics surrounding wealth creation among Mexican Americans, within the context of the nation state, cities, and geographical regions. This endeavor is, by necessity, multi-disciplinary and involves both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Eleven authors are contributing chapters to a book which will be published post-conference. This conference will explore the following:

• “Wealth creation” versus general business ownership

• The role “social/political capital” plays in developing the Mexican American business sector

• The role immigration plays in business ownership

• Geographical location and rates of entrepreneurship

Scholars will make presentations on their book chapters, and successful Mexican American entrepreneurs will discuss their entrepreneurial experience. Institute Director John Sibley Butler will host and wrap up by placing recent developments in historical perspective."
