We will look at one of the key emerging online trends: widgets and gadgets of content/functionality for social networks and other sites. Widgets offer huge potential as carriers of marketing, brand and advertising messages into social networks and other destinations. Successful widgets are viral in nature can distribute your content or marketing message across the Internet. This event will inform and inspire you, giving you a thorough understanding of the opportunities in the widgetsphere and how to leverage them.

Our aim is to answer three questions:

* what role do widgets and gadgets play in online strategy
* why are the commercial and competitive advantages to having a clear and focused 'widget strategy'
* what companies are benefiting and how from adopting these strategies

Ivan Pope, CEO - Snipperoo

Ivan Pope is CEO of Snipperoo, a company devoted to web-widgets, web-based content storage devices with a variety of applications. Throughout the early stages of internet commercialization in the 1980’s, this visionary entrepreneur was involved in a variety of innovations in website design and build, domain name registration, web-based newsletters, and even came up with the ‘cyber café’.

Using his extensive experience in business startup and development, Ivan founded Snipperoo in 2006, and has earned his reputation as a prolific blogger and authority on the subject of web widgets. Otherwise known as ‘Mr. Widget’, he organised the first European Widget Conference, ‘Widgety Goodness’, in December 2007, with a second event in New York planned for June 2008.

Ankur Shah, CEO & Owner - Techlightenment

A former Criminal Barrister, Ankur entered the technology sector after a successful stint at the Bar and prior to that had worked under endorsement of the United Nations and His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Bringing his knowledge of social dynamics to technology, with his co-founder Gi Fernando, Ankur started Techlightenment (a brand of D.sruptive Ltd.) to harness, embrace and disrupt social media; working with brands such as SonyBMG, Samsung and MTV. Under the flagship Socialistics programme, Techlightenment has pioneered a data driven approach to user experience and is at the forefront of developing consumer applications that leverage the social graph to deliver innovative forms of user experience.

Emmanuel Prat, CEO - WidgetAvenue

Emmanuel Prat is founder and CEO of WidgetAvenue, first European widget distribution platform. He decided to launch a new venture in the emerging widget space in 2007, a few months after selling his previous company to JupiterImages (Nasdaq:JUPM). In addition to his entrepreneurial background, Emmanuel has a strong international experience, having managed companies in several European countries and the US. Impassioned with new technologies, Emmanuel Prat is a graduate of prestigious French "Ecole Polytechnique", and happy father of 6 children.

Adrian Letts, COO & Owner - Blinkbox

Adrian Letts is the co-founder of blinkBox Entertainment, a new online Film and TV service that allows users to extend their entertainment experience in new and social ways.

A pioneer in the new media sector, Adrian has extensive experience in both the online and mobile internet. Prior to launching blinkBox, Adrian was an original member of the mobile content team at Vodafone Group in early 2000. At Vodafone, he was Group Head of Content Services sharing responsibility for over €800m in annual content revenues and playing an integral role in the development and launch of a number of leading mobile content services including Vodafone's mobile TV, music and games services.

Will McInnes, MD - Nixon McInnes

Will McInnes is evangelical about all things Social Media, but more importantly he is an inspiring translator.
Will monitors the early adopter activity online and translates the concepts for marketers desperate to know how to apply these new online techniques. Will engages with his audience drawing on their experience, questions and ideas.
At speaking events Will has cajoled and motivated delegates from: The BBC, Lloyds TSB, Fat Face, Zurich Financial, O2 and Vodafone.
