Melanie Jackson?s video installation Made in China will screen at Biz Art Center from 16?22nd September. The opening will be on September 16th at 18:30.

The work brings together three videos into one space: two are presented as projections back to back on a large suspended screen, and one plays on a monitor. The work uses a mixture of animation, staged film and straight documentary to set up a complex set of relationships between personal impulses and external influences that lead to certain working and living conditions, and fantasies of escape.

This exhibition is part of Melanie Jackson?s residency at the Artist Links Studio on Suzhou Creek, a space set up between Artist Links and BizArt Art Center. It is sponsored by the Arts Council England and the Cultural and Education Section of the British Counculate General SH.

The title looks interesting, but the description is all artsy fluff and no content. What's it about? Is there a better description somewhere online?

You'll just have to attend to see. Or go to the website, www.biz-art.com, there is a picture of the installation when it was shown in the U.K. Besides, I think the first half of the second paragraph gives a pretty detailed description of what you'll see.

The physical setup is pretty clear, but "personal impulses and external influences that lead to certain working and living conditions, and fantasies of escape."

What does that mean? I guess I'll have to go and see...
