Featuring City Auditor Laura Doud and historian Stan Poe at the renovated historic Villa Riviera
FREE and Open to the Public

The Long Beach Heritage Museum invites you to step back in time at the historic Villa Riviera for the 7th Annual Membership Meeting of the Long Beach Heritage Museum on Saturday, March 8 at 2:00 PM. This meeting is free and open to the public.

This year's entertaining program includes slideshows featuring the early glory days of the Villa Riviera - a National Historic Landmark since 1996 - and the Pacific Coast Club, both built during the heyday of Long Beach's oil boom.

Long Beach historical illuminati, Stan Poe, whose sold-out lectures on "Long Beach History" dazzled audiences at University by the Sea, will share interesting background and architectural information on both buildings.

Long Beach City Auditor Laura Doud will share insightful facts and research she's conducted about the auditor's office, focusing on the inspiring biography of 11-time City Auditor Myrtelle Gunsul.

Miss Gunsul's tenure as City Auditor from 1919 to 1951 included oversight of vibrant Long Beach history including the discovery of oil; the 1929 stock market crash; the Great Depression; the 1933 earthquake; World War II; and the construction of the Navy Base, CSULB and LBCC.

The afternoon also includes auction prizes and refreshments. Entry is free.

Proceeds support the Long Beach Heritage Museum's building fund which was created with the sole purpose to provide a home for the museum's artifacts which include the last Cyclone Racer roller coaster car, historic video, photographs, furniture and even parts of historic buildings.

Parking is located on the beach parking lot off Shoreline Drive, south of the Villa Riviera. The Villa Riviera is located at 800 East Ocean Blvd., Long Beach, CA 90802.
