The session will include general information about the American Translators Association (ATA) certification program and specific tips on preparing for and taking the exam. No practice tests will be given during the information session, but sample test passages in a variety of languages will be available for participants to take and use for practice on their own. This session is intended both for candidates who are planning to sit for the ATA certification exam in Austin on June 13, 2009, and for potential candidates who want to learn more about the exam before signing up.
The registration fee includes a packet of materials containing general information on the ATA certification program and exam, as well as language-specific tips for candidates and samples of previous exam passages. Non-members may join AATIA when registering and pay the member rate.
Presenter: Mary Esther Diaz, M. Ed. Esther is ATA-certified in translation of Spanish to English and English to Spanish. She has 25 years of experience as a translator and interpreter and over 20 years of experience training adults. She created and teaches the seven-course Translation and Interpretation Certificate Program at Austin Community College and also provides specialized training for translators and interpreters in the health care field.
Please note: Although ATA-produced materials will be presented during this information session, it is not sponsored by ATA, nor is the presenter an ATA exam grader. Participation in the information session does not guarantee success on the certification exam. No practice tests will be given during the session. Potential exam candidates are strongly encouraged to request a practice test from ATA in order to receive feedback from an official ATA grader. Questions?
