Second Annual “ Holiday in the Arts District” Festivities Planned for Carmel Arts & Design District



Carmel , IN – This year marks the second annual “Holiday in the Arts District” festivities sponsored by WebTech One, City of Carmel and the Old Town Arts & Design Merchants Association. The series of community events provides an entertaining destination where community members and visitors to the area can enjoy free activities while shopping and dining in the Carmel Arts & Design District (CA&DD). Events take place the first four Saturdays in December (1st, 8th, 15th & 22nd), from 1-5 p.m. A special Kick-Off event takes place this Saturday, December 1st from 1-5 p.m. with a tree lighting ceremony at 5 p.m.



Each Saturday visitors can experience free carriage rides, elves with live reindeer, strolling carolers or entertainment and a visit from Santa in his very own Santa House, sponsored by the Carmel Redevelopment Commission and Accent Details! Many merchants are hosting open houses with special activities planned for each weekend. Visitors also have the chance to win gifts and services such as pieces of artwork, free hair cuts and massages, gift baskets and gift certificates from Arts & Design merchants’ stores. The free gift drawings take place in participating merchants’ locations. The Kick-Off event takes place Saturday, December 1st from 1-5 p.m. with a special tree lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. Carmel Clay school choirs and other musical groups will perform throughout the day at the National City Bank parking lot on the northeast corner of Range Line Road and Main Street with special activities such as balloon twisters and caricature artists also present to entertain the children. The tree-lighting begins at 5 p.m. with a holiday performance from the Carmel Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. Winners and participants of the student holiday art contest as well as event sponsors will be announced at the ceremony. All student artwork entries will be displayed in the Arts & Design District Office and throughout the District in other merchants’ stores.
