Film: The Corporation July 17, 2007

You are invited to attend Cinemagic's weekly documentary screening event. The event will take place on Tuesday, July 17th, at the Cinemagic Courtyard in Bait Lothan, Salmiya, and will run between 7:30 p.m – 9:30 p.m.

This week, we will be screening multiple award-winning documentary "The Corporation". One hundred and fifty years ago, the corporation was a relatively insignificant entity. Today, it is a vivid, dramatic and pervasive presence in all our lives. Like the Church, the Monarchy and the Communist Party in other times and places, the corporation is today’s dominant institution. But history humbles dominant institutions. All have been crushed, belittled or absorbed into some new order. The corporation is unlikely to be the first to defy history. In this documentary, the far-reaching repercussions of the corporation’s increasing preeminence are examined. The film invites CEOs, whistle-blowers, brokers, gurus, spies, players, pawns and pundits on a graphic and engaging quest to reveal the corporation’s inner workings, curious history, controversial impacts and possible futures.

For its part, Cinemagic Kuwait, is organizing these events as part of its efforts to contribute to the development of an internationally competitive Kuwaiti audio-visual production industry, partly by bringing the filmmakers and audiences together and by Increasing the public's interest in – and appreciation for – the art of filmmaking.

As always, attendance is free of charge and you are encouraged to invite guests. Seating is limited, so make sure you come a little early. Snacks and refreshments will be served. Also, we will be providing mist fans because of the weather.
