Film: Children of Heaven March 6, 2008

Cinemagic is delighted to announce the return of our weekly screening programme. Screenings will continue to take place at our new location in Old Salmiya, above LG Electronics. The event will take place on Thursday, March 6th, at 7:30 p.m.

This week, we will be screening "Baran".

Oscar-nominated director Majid Majidi (Children of Heaven) tells the story of Afghan refugees through the perspective of young Iranian boy. In present-day Tehran, a teenager named Lateef falls in love with Rahmat, a young Afghan immigrant. Eventually, Rahmat reveals a devastating secret that changes both of them forever. Majidi once again uses non-professional actors for a more realistic look at Afghan and Iranian culture.

For its part, Cinemagic Kuwait, is organizing these events as part of its efforts to contribute to the development of an internationally competitive Kuwaiti audio-visual production industry, partly by bringing the filmmakers and audiences together and by Increasing the public's interest in – and appreciation for – the art of filmmaking.

As always, attendance is free of charge (but seating is limited). Snacks and refreshments will be served.
