ODC School and ODC Theater's Pilot Program kicks off its 21st year, presenting Fight or Flight, March 26th and 27th.

Hailing from the far reaches of Africa to right here in San Francisco, the choreographers for the 58th Pilot arrive at choreography through notably different experiences, ensuring a unparalleled and exhilarating evening of dance.ᅠ Byb Chanel Bibene's Nzoto Installation is an exploration of our everyday gestures transcribed into dance.ᅠ Inspired by the energy of Kitezo, a word that exists only in his native language, the work speaks to the simple presence of self in everyday life.ᅠ Bianca Cabrera's SLAM is a dance dramedy about industry, rigor and an accidental uprising.ᅠ Can a tireless trio become heroes with a lackluster arsenal of dumb luck and coincidence?ᅠ Lumen, by Katharine Hawthorne, is a duet for two women and moving light source.ᅠ Lumen, a unit of luminous flux measures the power of light perceived by the human eye.ᅠ Erica Rose Jeffrey explores the reality that so many people face of being separated from a loved one, by physical or emotional distance.ᅠ Her work, War Letters moves through the changing landscape of intimacy of distance in the face of separation.ᅠ Raisa Punkki contemplates when a set of numbers changes lives forever, bringing numbERs, a solo about the most fragile.ᅠ Inspired by media from pornography to pom-squad paraphernalia, Ashley Trottier's Good Morning, asks how a person can grapple with adoration, fascination and disgust for the world in which she lives.

With a deliberate shoestring budget, the Pilot Program encourages resourcefulness from the artist who have to get savvy as they work together for the first time on all levels of production. Given an opportunity like this, these up-and-coming choreographers have only two options: fight or flight. ᅠ
