Exploration Continued: Chandravanka Valley phase-3 June 1, 2012

Ethipothala Falls is a 70 feet (21 m) high river cascade, situated on the Chandravanka river, a tributary of the River Krishna. The waterfall is a combination of three streams namely Chandravanka Vagu, Nakkala Vagu and Tummala Vagu. It is situated about 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) from Nagarjuna Sagar Dam. The river then joins the Krishna river after the dam after traveling about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) from the falls. A strategic view point was created by Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department from the adjacent hillock. There are Ranganatha and Dattatreya temples in the vicinity. There is also a crocodile breeding centre in the lagoon formed by the falls.

Friday

10.30 PM :: leave for Macherla ( APSRTC BUS)

Saturday

6 am :: reach the entrance of the falls, 2 km hike on tar road. Take local transport to the waterfalls and explore new waterfalls

--- Explore the valley, try to reach down to River Krishna

Saturday

6 pm :: Catch RTC bus from Hill Colony or Nagarjunasagar to Hyderabad

Saturday

11 pm :: back to hyderabad.

Things to bring:

--Trekking wear, Shoes

--A good rucksack/backpack

--Need to carry breakfast, lunch and 3L water [ We wont get anything in the valley ]

Important Instructions:

Strictly no getting into water by any chance
No smoking and no alcohol
No littering, no pollution of water
This is not a luxury trip, but all care has been taken to make your trip comfortable
We carry Basic First Aid, please do inform us if you need any special attention.
If you dont feel well, bring it to the notice of the organizers immediately.
This is an exploratory trek, kindly bear with anything that might come ahead of us.
As this is both a holy place and a wildlife sanctuary, silence must be maintained through out the trek. No usage of mp3 players either.
This is a simple exploratory trek. All expectations are imaginary.
