You are cordially invited to one of summers most happening events - CSS live at Koko as part of the iTunes Live: London Festival.

Had Sao Paolo’s CSS not appeared on the indie scene back in 2006, would anyone have dared make them up?

Like a musical equivalent of radical girl-gang The Lizzies from cult flick The Warriors, CSS’s exotic fusion of shambolic grooves, punk spirit and catchy playground chorus’ suggested a chaotic favela party jointly hosted by The Beastie Boys, The Slits and Sandinista-era Clash.

That their debut album Cansei De Ser Sexy translated from Portuguese as “Tired Of Being Sexy’” – inspired by a comment by Beyonce Knowles – was impressive enough. That breakthrough single “Let’s Make Love And Listen To Death From Above” channelled the revolution rock of Os Mutantes with the clipped digital funk of DFA even more so.

Add a singer called Lovefoxxx and a live show so chaotic it made The Happy Mondays look professional, and you‘ve got, as LL Cool J might put it, something like a phenomenon. With long awaited new album Donkey – produced in Brazil by the band’s Adriano Cintra and mixed in Los Angeles by Mark “Spike” Stent – set for a June release, they seem set to end the year as the planet’s premier party band. See them now before you need binoculars.
