OBJECTIVE
To secure a position within a media company, where my skills and experience in the concert promotion and film/video production business can be utilized.
BIO
The MEDIA business attracted Jon at an early stage in his life while a senior at Foothill High School in San Jose California. The radio and television class went on a field trip to the local public access television station channel 2b KPAR. The Father Berry Verdi ran the station along with Robert Hawks. That day the video switcher did not show up, father Verdi tapped Jon on the shoulder, and asked/insisted that he sit down at the board (character generator). He took Jon into the studio showed him how to zoom in/out, focus, pan, and move the tri-pod or truck the pod as he called it. That day Jon could not begin to share with you the excitement he felt sitting at the board, which was the beginning of his career in the world of media.
In 1984 Jon routed his first national concert tour The “Freak show 84’ tour. Featuring the Bar-Kay’s, a forty-city tour, his responsibilities included booking the facilities, media buys, tracking record/airplay charts etc.
After developing solid business relationships in the music business Jon started Starwood Entertainment Group LLC in 1986 a concert promotion, artist management, film/video/music Production Company. In 1987, he promoted his first tour, Lisa-Lisa & Cult Jam with Expose opening. A ten-city west coast tour.
Along with running Starwood, in 1994 the family land development and construction business demanded more of his time. In 2005, Starwood opened its newest division Web design & production. This is a developing focal point of the business today.
Recently Jon has increased his knowledge of film/video editing, web design /content production (webcast and webinars using Apple Final cut Pro & Adobe’s suite of award winning software.
