Opening Fri, April 1, 5:30-8pm; exhibit runs March 24th through April 24th

Mazza's work re-presents everyday found objects in surprising ways, demanding that we consider our own participation in a culture of consumerism and planned obsolescence. Using ballpoint pen, colored pencil, gouache, and latex house paint, she creates exquisitely detailed works on reclaimed surfaces. For this exhibition the artist will transform the CIIS Minna Street Center with large mural installations, an assemblage of smaller drawings displayed in one-of-a-kind reclaimed frames, and two installation pieces constructed out of waste materials.

Christina Mazza's recently completed Recology's Artist in Residence program as well as the Artist's Studio Program at the de Young Museum. Her work is included in The Drawing Center's Viewing Program in NYC and selected works have been published in an anthology showcasing contemporary works by Asian American women and in Recology's 20th Anniversary anniversary book, "Art at the Dump".
