The Carleton Jazz Ensemble, directed by David Singley, will present its winter concert on Friday, Feb. 10 at 8 p.m. in the Carleton College Concert Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Featured on the program will be student vocalist Monee Sconyers, a senior American studies major from Chicago, Ill. The Carleton jazz combos will also be performing.

Singley, lecturer in jazz and blues guitar at Carleton, is an accomplished world-class jazz guitarist who has shared the stage with such notable jazz figures as Bob Brookmeyer, George Shearing and Arturo Sandoval. He has performed with the Minnesota Orchestra, Minnesota Opera and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and has appeared on National Public Radio?s ?A Prairie Home Companion.?

Singley also is a composer and arranger, with pieces published by the Neil Kjos Music Co. and the Increase Music Co. His solo CD, ?How My Heart Sings,? was released in 1997. He has a degree in jazz composition and arranging from the Berklee College of Music and a master?s degree in jazz studies from Indiana University.
