JUNE 15th 2011, Billabong will host the 5th annual Design For Humanity benefit set in the heart of the legendary NY Street Backlot at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, CA;The Backlot recreates eight distinct areas of New York City for a massive outdoor block party with two concert stages, bikini runway fashion show, art show auctions, food trucks, multiple bars, live t-shirt screenprinting, street performers, tons of BARS, live art installations...this will truly be an unforgettable celebration with 100% of all proceeds donated to The VH1 Save the Music Foundation.

Design For Humanity is Billabong’s charitable division that seeks to raise funds and awareness of worthy causes, all the while celebrating art, music and fashion in the process.

Billabong is proud to announce the 2011 beneficiary is The VH1 Save the Music Foundation.  With your ticket purchase to Design for Humanity, you are helping to make an impact on the youth and keep music in public schools.

Come ready to bid and buy art, buy a t-shirt, buy a grilled cheese sandwich, have a cocktail, or just dance your pants off.

Proceeds from the art show sales, screenprinting, food trucks and bikini collaborations will be donated to The VH1 Save the Music Foundation.

Doors open at 7pm with the art auction, food trucks, DJ's and loads of secret installations you'll want to be there early to see it all.

Fashion show starts at 9:30pm SHARP with DJ Mark Moreno.

Headliner Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros concert at 10:30pm. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros are a happy to be in love motley crew of creativity and chaos that’s both contagious and sincere. The layers of sound they bring to their shows is captivating and their chorus infectious. The folk-pop collective is known to draw the most raucous of crowds, with lead Alexander Ebert characteristically jumping into the crowd several times -the lot of them will perform live on the main stage and you can expect a unforgettable performance at this year's Design for Humanity.

On the side stage, coming off a HUGE tour with Florence and the Machine and massive success at SXSW, the unique sound of 50′s/60′s blues, soul, garage rock that is Hanni El Khatib will be performing, known for his sinewy guitar and wry, whiskey-glazed voice. Hanni. Also performing this evening, disco house from New York’s The Hundred In The Hands. Their music is an avant-pop split between the austere and feverish.

Original works of art will be available to bid in a silent auction with Buy It Now options (for those of you who want to spend most of the night at the VIP bar). Attendees will register at the Art Show space to place bids (credit card or cash required at the end of the auction). The Design for Humanity Art Auction will run from when doors open at 7pm til midnight so come ready to outbid and win!

In addition to original works of art curated by Daniel Chang in the Design for Humanity art show and live art installations, Artists Republic For Tomorrow (AR4T) out of Laguna Beach is pairing up legendary music photographers with artists where artists paint over the photo for a unique collaborative artwork that will also be up for bid.
