Annual Children's Arts Festival June 1, 2008

Children will be invited to participate in more than a dozen arts activities: sculpturing clay, painting on easels, learning pastel techniques from a professional artist, making origami figures and fashioning collages from recycled paper. In addition, children will create a miniature ocean scene, make colorful three-dimensional hanging sculptures and decorate paper boats for sailing in the park fountain.

Local young musicians who participated in Pleasanton's annual Youth Music Festival will provide musical entertainment throughout the afternoon.

"Our annual Festival is a wonderfully low-key and creative afternoon for young children and their parents," says Julie Finegan, event organizer and art gallery coordinator for the City of Pleasanton. "We invite them to bring their picnic blankets for relaxing in between art projects and enjoying the musicians' performances. We remind them that there is plenty of free parking across the street at the Raley's shopping center, if the Senior Center lot is full. "
