When your business is deception, how does one behave ethically? The thoughtful spy may find assignments directly conflict with his or her individual morals. Jan Goldman, a professor of ethics and intelligence at the Joint Military Intelligence College, has authored Ethics of Spying, a unique collection of essays, articles, speeches, and codes of ethics from various US intelligence agencies—some never before released to the public—as a guide for intelligence professionals. Using examples from some of the 20 case studies included in the book, Goldman will share his thoughts on how and why an agent should build a code of ethics independent of department, agency, company or country in this fascinating consideration of the moral dilemmas spies may face
