International Dance Day Film Screening
Celebrate International Dance Day with this free dance on film screening

The Dance Umbrella of Ontario (DUO) and the Canadian Dance Assembly (CDA) in partnership with the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) present International Dance Day Screening, April 29th from 1 to 4pm at the National Film Board cinema, 150 John Street at Richmond. A FREE event open to the public to celebrate dance.

This event features twelve dance shorts by Canadian artists: Kathleen Smith?s and Christopher House?s Falling Gothic Green; Kaeja d?Dance?s Old Country; Kathi Prosser?s Sugar & Snails; Michael Du Maresq?s hollow; Michael Trent?s The Kielts; Laura Taler?s A Village Trilogy; Alijandro Ronceria?s A Hunter Called Memory; & films from the 4x4 series produced by The Moving Pictures Festival: Stuck, Fold, Dress Code & Tralala.

Also featuring the Academy Award nominated film Pas de Deux, by acclaimed director Norman McLaren.

The 24th annual International Dance Day is a UNESCO designated day for celebrating dance and dance artists. People worldwide are encouraged to experience dance on April 29th, whether it is dancing in the streets, going to see a live performance, or attending this film screening.

DUO, CDA and the NFB are partnering in this special event to bring dance to the general public. An impressive showing of Canadian dance film shorts by established dance artists will be screened. Many of these artists will be on hand to discuss their film and answer questions. Final list TBA.

This showing is free to the public, but please note this screening is intended for adult audiences (18+).
