Noted science and religion expert Ian Barbour will speak on ?Intelligent Design: A Scientific and Religious Critique? at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12, at Carleton College, Olin Hall, Room 141. The event is free and open to the public.

Barbour, the Winifred & Atherton Bean Professor Emeritus of Science, Technology & Society at Carleton, was awarded the 1999 Templeton Prize for Progress in Religion in recognition of his efforts to create a dialogue between the worlds of science and religion. His book ?Issues in Science and Religion,? published in 1965, has been credited with creating the contemporary field of science and religion. Barbour has also written and spoken extensively about ethical issues arising from the technological applications of science.
