Named for Thomas Edison’s Black Maria, the world’s first motion picture studio, this internationally recognized showcase of independent works is one of nine festivals designated by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as an Oscar-qualifying competition for new work by independent artists. Festival director John Columbus will present a selection of the year’s most compelling award-winning short films and videos.
