Oxford, England OX2 6AE

Oxford Geek Nights offer a chance for web developers and designers in the local area to get together, share their skills and talk about new ideas, techniques and technologies.

This second Oxford Geek Night will consist of two keynote talks of 15 minutes each, followed after a healthy period of socialising with two sets of 5 minute long open microslot sessions.

There are currently 8 microslots up for grabs these can be lightning talks or demo's on anything web design or development related. Please submit your talk proposal http://natbat.wufoo.com/forms/oxford-geek-night-microslot-proposal/ and nearer the time we will confirm the line-up for the evening.

The two keynotes have now been confirmed:

Jon Hicks on web typography and what's hot in the typography world for 2007
James Webster from Amazon UK on Amazon's suite of web services

This is a FREE event, supported by Torchbox

Aaagh! I won't be coming to this because it is going to clash with our Oxtremists book group meeting (http://www.oxtremists.co.uk). Not only that, but we're going to have the authors coming along to discuss their book with us. More details here: http://upcoming.org/event/167412/

Wish there'd been something like this when I was in Oxford back in 2005!

Any one know if there is any good, cheap accomodation nearby?

There is a good youth hostel quite close at about £14 a night, and I think there may well be some nice hotels in Jericho too
