Boston's only roller rink is in danger of closing down forever, and some of us here in the city are organizing a benefit to help prevent that from happening. Wednesday night, October 18th, at 8pm, we're bringing some of the city's finest disco DJs to the Chez Vous rink. "ALL SKATE: A Night to Benefit Chez Vous" is a roller boogie party harkening back to the rink's glory days in more ways than one. Chez Vous was opened in Dorchester in the 1930s with assistance from the man who designed the modern quad skate. Through the years, it's become a hub for locals to congregate and a venue for countless musical performances. When violence broke out in the neighborhood, the management beefed up after-school programs to keep neighborhood kids engaged in something worthwhile. But the rink has fallen into financial hardship. So we're going to slip into our shorts, strap on our skates, and save it. Noted italo-disco scholar Joseph Colbourne will be working the wheels of steel as you roll and bounce, along with San Serac spinning electro funk and house, Mark E. Moon and Brendan Wesley spinning classic roller boogie. $10 advance tickets at the rink, $12 at the door night of the party, all proceeds to the rink, all ages welcome. Skate rental is free or byo.
